The family-owned Pathé is the only French film group still fully involved in exhibition, production, distribution and sales. Seydoux, now in his late 80s, sees to its high standards and aims for it to be listed on the Paris stock exchange in 2024. This year, Pathé delivered France’s highest-grossing local film, Guillaume Canet’s comic-book franchise “Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom,” and another franchise-based French blockbuster, “The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan,” whose sequel, “The Three Musketeers: Milady” will be right behind it. Pathé began production on a feature adaptation of “The Count of Monte Cristo.” In 2021, “CODA,” a remake of the company’s “La Famille Bélier,” took three Oscars, including best picture. Pathé has also ventured into TV, with many series projects based on iconic IP ahead, including “The Phantom of the Opera,” directed by Kirill Serebrennikov, the Russian playwright and director whose last three films competed at Cannes.
