If you’ve never been to the Edinburgh Fringe, there’s a taste of its unmistakable flavor on offer right now at Playwrights Horizons, where three small-scale shows are running in repertory. It’s still, after many years and a lot of change—to the festival, to the world; much obviously for the worse, the rest arguably so—one of my favorite flavors. My 600-Lb Life star Shannon Lowery recently appeared on Season 9, Episode 10 of the show. Entitled “Shannon’s Journey,” the episode follows Lowery as she explains how she feels about her current lifestyle, her life story, and her goals for the future. Dr. Now’s assessment gave Lowery a goal to meet for surgery, but it looks like financial troubles could be getting in the way of Lower’s efforts and planning.

TrustNordisk has closed a U.K. deal on “Before It Ends,” a WW2-set drama with “Games of Thrones” star Pilou Asbæk, unfolding during the final stages of Nazi Occupation in Denmark. Signature Entertainment has bought U.K. rights to the movie. “Before It Ends,” whose trailer has just been unveiled (see below), was written and directed by Anders Walter, known for his Oscar-winning short film “Helium” and “I Kill Giants” which played at Toronto in 2017.
